Impossible as it seems already the show season is under way and the first Championship Show of the Year was held at Manchester. More congratulations are due to Mary and Ted Whitehill who are proud to announce the safe arrival of their granddaughter Holly who weighed in at 8lb 6ozs.
Val McGivern writes that little Jake has now fully recovered and his owner says that he is back to normal and is not afraid when he goes for walks. He does not even have a limp which the vet thought he might be left with. A brave little dog.

The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club held its Open Show on 16 February at the Civic Hall, Nantwich. I understand this is quite a popular venue with dog societies and it is easy to see why. Plenty of parking space, the hall itself was most suitable, a good size with plenty of room, light and airy and with good refreshments available at a reasonable price. A good cup of tea too out of a proper cup and saucer not a plastic cup!!! It is a pity that the show was not better supported, it is perhaps a distance for some to travel, a 300 mile round trip for Mark and I, but a Club Open is, or should be, something to make an effort for. Even so there was still a nice quality entry for our judge to go over and I am sure she was pleased with her final selections and it certainly seemed as if everyone was enjoying themselves, I found it very noticeable that there was such a happy atmosphere around the show.
Best Bitch and BIS went to Rosemary Ayris' Ibstock Adorable at Tussalud with Best Dog and RBIS going to Jo Davidson Poston's Ibstock Bright Spark for Spinillons, also of course bred by Rosemary and both winners were sired by Rosemary's well known Ch Ibstock Mark of Distinction. BPIS was Queenie Bruce and Amanda Bruce-Jackson's Tijuana She's No Angel.
Liz and Alan Bartram were delighted to hear that Burghbridge Fly For Gold had won the Our Dogs/Eukanuba Competition for 2002 based on winning progeny under 12 months of age. |

Jean Lawrence tells me that Audrey Henderson from the Oxford area passed away recently. Audrey whose prefix was Bishopsmarston had papillons a number of years ago although more recently had concentrated more of her affenpinschers but she would have been known to some of our older members. |
