The South of England Papillon Club Open Show drew a super entry of 139 dogs making 173 entries. The committee had hoped to be able to hold the show outside unfortunately the weather was not kind, as it has not been for it seems ages now, so the show was held indoors. As usual everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, the Club's web site has already been updated with lots of lovely pictures taken from the show so do have a look, the address is http://www.southpapclub.co.uk/ and follow the link to 'Photos of Past Events' BIS went to Ann Stevens' Tawzan Madame Cezane and BP to Sue Orchard and Sue Stanbury's Panspayon C’est La Vie Inixia. I am sure everyone will be eagerly looking forward to the Club's next Open Show which will be held on 26th November 2006 at the Wellsprings Leisure Centre in Taunton, Somerset, and the judge will be Glenn Robb. The venue will be shared with the South Western Toy Dog Club who will also be scheduling Papillons so you will have the opportunity to show in two shows on one day.
At the show Janet Chandler unfortunately lost a gold necklace made of tiny gold balls with a single pearl and green Canarian stone. If by any chance anyone found it Janet would be grateful if they would contact her. At the same show Pat Beadle lost some show leads, she thinks she may have dropped them either in the car park or the hall. They are black nylon slip leads with a very fine gold chain joining the collar to the lead, again if anyone found these please contact Pat.
My thanks again to Eilish Neally who does such a good job posting the details of the show results for Ireland as I know a lot of people are interested in what goes on over there. At the Hiberian All Breed Dog Club Champ Show BOB & GSD went to Marion Sloan's Ir Ch Austrene I'm Electric, GSB to Dolly Kavanagh's Denemore Cameo Reflection, RGSD to Dolly's Serenglade Special Design for Denemore and RGSB to Diane Mooney's Conysluck Magic Flute.
At SKC Dog CC and BOB went to Sandra Austin and Jane Thompson's Jhanakia Royal Highlander, I believe his second CC his first having come at the Northern and Eastern Counties Papillon Club Show in 2004. Bitch CC went to Irene and Glenn Robb's Ch Gleniren Starlight Kisses. RDCC went to Dk & Nor Ch Gleniren Premier League Sunshoo jointly owned by Irene and Glenn with Carolyne and David Roe and RBCC to Amy Mason's Amicae Spirit At Amsema. BP was John Turner's Bodebi Rythm Is A Dancer
At the Coventry & DCS Open Show BOB and G4 went to Miss K. Miller's Feorlig Zweet Sensation with BP going to Messrs. Wenham & Malbon's Danginifee Gypsy Gold
The weather has been absolutely dreadful over the last week or two and the amount of rain makes one wonder if this is the wettest drought ever recorded!!!! Tomorrow is Bath, which has in the past lived up to its name, but as I write these notes the morning before it is a bright sunny day with lovely clear blue skies. Whilst we are a good distance from Bath I hope the good weather extends there at least for the show, nothing worse I think than a wet muddy show for exhibitors or dogs. |

Sorry the notes are a bit rushed this week, I have just realised they need to be in early for the forthcoming Bank Holiday. At Sutton Open show Helen Smith did very well with Kazkell Justdreaming at Lozek, taking BP and BOB later PG1 and G2 well done.

At the South of England Papillon Club Open Show the weather also force the judging to take place indoors. Joan Savage down from Scotland judged the Breed Classes and Ian Chandler the welfare Classes, Erin Boal judged the JHA classes, the Winners were:

Phil Shirley, Secretary of the South Of England Papillon Club, has sent me some details of the Club's forthcoming Fun Day. He writes "The South of England Papillon Club will hold their Fun Day on 2nd July at Bradfield, We kick off at 11.00a.m. with the Agility Demonstration, followed by the Baby Puppy Parade, please bring all your young puppies as this is a great time to socialize them, it so nice to see all the babies having fun meeting each other. We have plenty of novelty classes, bring your veterans, also there will be classes for young handlers (under16) and senior handlers (over 50) The agility / jumping course will be reduced for everyone to "Have a Go" rosettes for all tryers. We shall be serving lunch with plenty of choice, free tea and coffee all day!. To bring festivities to a close our usual Devon Cream Tea will be served giving you all plenty of time to dress up for the Fancy Dress Parade human and canine. Lots of other things will be happening too with the Raffle (prizes gratefully received).Cake/ Produce/Plant Stalls, a Bring and Buy Stall to tempt you (again all donations greatly appreciated) The club stall with Brian, who so aptly manages to relieve you of your money. This year you also can let your dog take their Good Citizens Bronze Award test, some pre-training is required. We also will be presenting our cheque to Dogs for the Disabled; raised from our “Papillons walk for Charity” the amount raised so far exceeds £800. Everyone welcome, it promises to be a fun day for all Papillons and their owners." I am sure the event will be its usual success and I am grateful to Phil for sending on the information. I have in the past mentioned that I am more than happy to print information from any of the Breed Club's with regards to their forthcoming activities, strangely some of the clubs simply don't bother to let me have any information. A pity as I am sure their members would be interested, so come on Breed Clubs make use of these notes and let your members know what you have planned.
At Bath which was not fir the first time very wet and windy, Dog CC and BOB went to Jenny Scovell's Ch. Caswell Classic Tri, Bitch CC to Ann MacGregor's Pyatshaw Silver Tassie, I believe her second her first having come at Belfast 2004. Reserves went to John Turner's Bodebi Rhythm is a Dancer in dogs and Ann Stevers Tawzan Madame Cezane in bitches. BP went to Bodebi Rhythm is a Dancer
Carolyne Allward-Chebsey attended the funeral of Peter Hancock and has sent me the following "Peter Hancock’s, former Show Manager of The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club, funeral took place on 25th May 2006 at the South Chapel, Oakley Wood Crematorium, nr Leamington. As I drove up to the crematorium Chapel, through some beautiful woods, I thought what a lovely peaceful place this was for the final farewell to our former Show Manager Peter Hancocks. With a packed congregation of his close knit family, friends, associates and motorbike enthusiasts as well friends from the Papillon world, we walked into the large Chapel to the sounds of Glenn Miller playing ‘In the Mood’. Everyone present felt Carina's great loss and our sympathy at this sad time went to her. Captain Steven Thomas of The Salvation Army led a moving celebration of the life of Peter, stressing that in spite of his long term health problems including being one of the first heart bypass patients in his twenties he had overcome all these obstacles with vigour and determination. He was a man of principle and integrity. The Old Rugged Cross was sung, Psalm 23 was read and two tributes to Peter were given by his cousin and by a friend who introduced him to the world of papillons. The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club was represented by the President Mrs Wood-Davis and the Secretary with other members of the Committee giving their last respects. A donation from the Club was made in Peter’s memory to the British Heart Foundation." |

Thanks to Eilish Neally for her continued support by passing on news from Ireland: at the Hibernian Dog Club Ch. Show under judge: Mr K Stevenson, BOB & GSD - IR CH Austrene I'm Electric, RGSD - Serenglade Special Design for Denemore, GSB - Denemore Cameo Reflection, RGSB - Conysluck Magic Flute
In the hurry to get the notes off last week, I omitted the winner of Best Junior Handler in Show at the South of England Papillon Club Open show : it was Fran McWade, well done to Fran, staying with the show, Janet Chandler lost a gold necklace and Pat Beadle lost a couple of dog leads, if anyone found these items please let me or any of the committee have them and they will be returned.
The weather continues to be vile and I hear Bath, as predicted was a soggy affair|: Liz Anderson ( Northlyte) down from Scotland judged and the main winners were: DCC & BOB Ch. Caswell Classic Tri, Mrs J Scovell, RDCC: Bodebi Rhythm is a Dancer , Mr J Turner, BCC: Pyatshaw Silver Tassie, Mrs A Macgregor, RBCC: Tawzan Madame Cezane, Mr & Mrs Stevens, BPIB :Bodebi Rhythm is a Dancer , Mr J Turner. Congratulations to all the winners.

I have received the schedule for the Open Show for the Northern and Eastern Counties Papillon Club which will be judged this year by: Karen O’Kane (Northlyte) at Willoughby Village Hall, Selby, entries close 26th June, there is a handy form in the schedule for ordering the N & E Counties Calendar which will be available from the Darlington Show and shows thereafter. Dorothy Simpson is co-ordinating the Calendar this year and needs Photos to be submitted before the 10th July, as usual the 12 most popular photos will be chosen by the exhibitors at the Open show.
The Papillon judges for the next two Crufts have been announced in the Kennel Gazette: 2007 Mr E Hulme, 2008 Mr D Roe.
Carolyne Allward-Chebsey sent the following: “The funeral of Peter Hancocks, former Show Manager of The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club, took place on 25th May 2006 at the South Chapel, Oakley Wood Crematorium, nr Leamington. At Southern Counties Dog CC and BOB went to Ms C Lees Bodebi Ray of Success at Lafford, this was his third CC, his other two coming earlier this year at UK Toys and Birmingham National, thus giving him his title subject to KC confirmation. Congratulations to his owner and of course to his breeder John Turner. Bitch CC, I believe her first, went to Sue and Ian Victor and Emma McLaughlin's Farleysbane Rowetta, Reserve CC's went to Sue Stanbury and Margaret Unwin's Inixia Dreams Magic in dogs and in bitches to Jean and Roger Banfield's Farleysbane Unsung Melody At Kingshaven, bred of course by Sue, Ian and Emma.
Three shows in two days for folk in Ireland. The Papillon Club of Ireland held their Championship Show where GSD and BIS went to Marion Sloan's Ch Austrene Imelectric Sh.C.M, GSB to Marion's Ch., Int.Ch., UK Ch. Sunshoo Imamovie Premiere, RGSD to Sue Belshaw's Belvistaj Simply Charming and RGSB to Diane Mooney's Conysluck Magic Flute. Magic Flute also took BPIS. At the Toy Dog Of Ireland Show GSD went to Clark's Ch Austerene Copper Glow, GSB to Diane's Omaonaig Fairy Footsteps, RGSD to Diane's Omaonaig Grey Swallow and RGSB to Marion Sloans Ch, Int.Ch., UK Ch Sunshoo Imamovie Premiere. I must mention BVIS which went to Magic Flute of Brentville who is the dam of Am & Can Ch Brentville The Entertainer At Tussalud and incidentally grand dam of Diane's Conysluck Magic Flute. This was Magic Flute's second BIS this year. Finally at Cork Championship Show GSB and BOB went to Diane Mooney's Omaonaig Fairy Footsteps, GSD to Switzers Dolissimo Midnight Cowboy, RGSD to Diane's Omaonaig Grey Swallow and RGSB to Diane's Conysluck Magic Flute. Diane reports that the Index for the breed has gone up making it very hard to get a major, Diane thinks you would need at least eight Green Stars now, each from a good entry to make a Ch up if starting this year.
I hear that Sandra Poulter (Sanjuper) has had to spend a little longer time in hospital than originally planned. Unfortunately the routine operation she had recently to repair a previous operation scar did not go as well as planned and Sandra had to undergo more surgery to correct complications,. Fortunately she is now on the mend and was very pleased to receive a card signed by many people. Hopefully before too long she will be back at home

It was nice to get to Newbury for Southern Counties Ch. Show, Ruth Johnston judged the breed with 102 dogs making 104 entries, the weather was lovely with hot sunshine all day, the results were: Dog CC & BOB: Ms C LEES Bodebi Ray of Success at Lafford, Res Dog CC: Miss M STANBURY, Mrs S & UNWIN Inixia Dreams Magic, Bitch CC: Miss E VICTOR, Mr I & Mrs S & McLAUGHLIN Farleysbane Rowetta, Res Bitch CC: Mr R & Mrs J BANFIELD Farleysbane Unsung Melody At Kingshaven, Best Puppy: Mr J W TURNER Bodebi Rhythm Is A Dancer.
There was much excitement as this was the third and crowning CC for Ray of Success, the other two coming at UK Toy and Birmingham National earlier this year. John Turner with a heavily bandaged broken wrist, the result of a fall at home in the garden, must have been very pleased his puppy finished its final puppy class with a BPIB, I am sure this young dog will have a successful show career ahead. John, being the breeder of the BOB who became a Champion on the day certainly had a good day, also Sue Victor was beaming with the results being the breeder of both the BCC and RBCC. Many congratulations.
Across the water in Ireland there were 3 shows in two days, Thanks to Diane Mooney for the following results, Toy Dog Of Ireland Ch Show: DGS Clarks Ch Austerene Copper Glow, RDGS Mooneys Omaonaig Grey Swallow, BGS Mooneys Omaonaig Fairy Footsteps, RBGS Sloans CH Sunshoo Imamoviepremier, Best Veteran in Show : Magic Flute of Brentville. In conjunction with his show the Papillon Club of Ireland hold their Ch. Show, it was judged by: Mrs Allward-Chebsey , DGS and BIS, Sloan's Ch Austrene Imelectric Sh.C.M, RDGS, Belshaw,s Belvistaj Simply Charming, BGS Sloan's Ch.Int.Ch.UK Ch. Sunshoo Imamovie Premiere, RBGS, Mooney's Conysluck Magic Flute, Magic Flute was also Best Puppy in Show.
Then at the Cork Ch. Show Judge:Mrs Steele , DGS Switzers Dolissimo Midnight Cowboy, RDGS Mooneys Omaonaig Grey Swallow, BGS &BOB Mooneys Omaonaig Fairy Footsteps, RBGS Mooneys Conysluck Magic Flute.
Dianne noted that the Index (the guide by which the value of a green star major is calculated) has gone up for Papillons, presumably because of falling entries, this means it will be more difficult to win a major and more green stars will be required to make up a champion in Ireland.
Here also Papillon entries at Ch. Shows seem to be very low this year, Bath and S.Counties 112 and 102 respectively, however Three Counties has only 86 and this at a show where the organisers say they are pleased to see an overall increase, it will be interesting to watch the trend and see what the year on year figures produce. At Southern Counties on paper the entry looked average, as one expects there are usually a few absentees especially in bitches, however the total bitches judged on the day was only 29, against 54 dogs. Certainly Pugs with their high entries seem to have pushed us from second spot in the toy group numerically.
Speaking to Helen Wheeler this week she asked me to inform you of the date of the South Wales Papillon Club Championship Show, which was originally to have been held on 8th October, will now be on the 1st October at Markham, the judge will be Evelyn Needham, because of this change, the date South of England Papillon Clubs “PapillonEducation Day” will move to a different date, members will be informed as soon as possible. It really is a hard job trying to prevent the dates of various events clashing, then just when you think you have succeeded one event is changed and it throws everything out.
Jean Leverett asked me to say how sorry she is that she feels unable to judge this year at Driffield Ch. Show. I know Jean was looking forward very much to it would have loved to carry out the appointment but sensibly she feels the strain of standing for so long would be too much and therefore has withdrawn. This show also has been moved to another date and venue than originally advertised: now toy day will be: 5th October held at Wetherby, the breed will be judged by Jimmy Simpson.
At Guildford Open show recently Pat and Brian Cox did well under judge, Sue Morrell with Wish Upon a Star Over Tricianbri taking BOB and G2 .Mrs Tydemans Kingshaven Whodunnit at Karingal took BPIB and PG4. Sue Morrell has also been judging up in Scotland recently, judging Papillons at the North of Scotland Toy Dog Society Open Show, where she drew a very good entry of 48dogs BOB was Patrick`s, Volpecula Art Deco. BPIB, was Paul`s, Meerwings Painted Lady which went on to win Best Puppy in show. |

Two papillon folk currently not feeling at their best. Mandy Thornton (Shevid) went into hospital on 5 June, Mandy has been a fair bit of pain and discomfort lately and hopefully some new pain relief will be found to enable her to go home soon. Her new puppy had made a good start in the show ring this Spring handled by a very reluctant Dave and their very young grandson in junior handling. With Mandy's sheer determination and Dave's continuing support let's hope that it won't be long before Mandy is back at the ringside and telling Dave what he did wrong in the ring.
Denise Pearch (Alnessaden) was admitted to Epsom Hospital on 10 June with a nasty case of Orbital celitoius, a nasty blistering viral infection to her eye lids and socket. She has had to have antibiotics and will be having a brain scan on Tuesday to check for any infection in the back of the eye socket and the brain. She is holding up well in herself even though this has really knocked her sideways. We hope both Mandy and Denise make quick recoveries and are soon back to the ring.
Some late details from the Papillon Club of Ireland Championship Show which were not available when I sent my earlier report. Best Puppy in Show went to Diane Mooney's Conysluck Magic Flute. The following are I believe points trophies held from year to year. Pipistrelle Stud Dog Trophy for leading Sire went, for the second year running, to Diane's Omaonaig Feile Eion, The Club Tray for Top Papillon went to Diane's Ch Int Ch Omaonaig Flame of Tara and the KlonKeen points cup for leading kennel went to Diane's Omaonaigs.
It was a blistering hot day for the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club Open Show where BIS went to Dk/Nor. Ch Gleniren Premier League Sunshoo owned by Glen and Irene Robb jointly with Carolyn and David Roe and bred of course by Irene and Glenn. Full results with pictures are available on the Club's web site at http://www.papillonclub.co.uk
Three Counties was an exciting show for Irene and Glenn along with Carolyn and David as their Dk/Nor. Ch Gleniren Premier League Sunshoo won not only his first CC and BOB but went on to top the Toy Group. They will therefore have to return on Thursday for BIS, and I am sure won't mind the extra journey!!! Let's hope that next week I can report more success. Bitch CC went to Pat Munn's Feorlig Picture Perfect at Ringlands who also took BPIB, she had also taken Best Bitch and BP at the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club's Open Show. Res Dog CC went to Sue Stanbury's Inixia Wily WIllum JW and Res Bitch CC to Irene and Glenn's Ch Gleniren Starlight Kisses.
Phil Shirley, Secretary of the South of England Papillon Club has asked me to mention the following "Following on from the announcement about the Good Citizen Bronze Award test that you will be able to enter your dog for at the South of England Papillon Club Fun-day at Bradfield on the 2nd July, the examiner, Barbara Pointer asked me to mention: along with the pre-training required, every dog must have a walking collar and lead and the collar should be fitted with a disc that must include the dogs name and your post code, you must have a dog brush with you and also a poo bag! Without these basic items you will not be able to take the test." |

SWECA, held their 50th anniversary Open show recently, the Papillon classes are held as a supported entry from the South of England Papillon Club, this year the Judge was Mr Enze and he awarded BOB and Group 1 to Steve Maskells, Kazkels Dillons Dream JW ShCM, who later went on to RBIS, BP was Mr & Mrs Darlows, Dellatown Enchanted Wings which went PG2 . Steve and Karen went the next day to Barnsley and Dist Open show and again Kazkels Dillons Dream JW ShCM won RBIS under Jimmy Simpson, their young puppy was also short listed for BPIS. During the SWECA show there was a presentation to Sheila Sadler on retiring from SWECA as Secretary after many years and the Papillon exhibitors also made a small presentation to her for encouraging the scheduling of Papillon Classes.
Some non-dog shows news: although a very impressive result. I was talking with Viv Butler last week and she was telling me of her husband Kevin’s achievements in the sailing world, we are used to seeing Kevin showing his pretty R/W bitch but this is somewhat more ambitious, I hope I have this right: in the “around the island “ race held off the Isle of Wight Kevin was 6th, wait for it, out of 1600 entries, not only did he achieve this but in the quarter ton category of the world championships he finished 8th so very well done to Kevin.
The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club held their Open Show at Ryton, Judge: Mr V. Toivanen (Connection) the results were; BIS: Dk/Nor. Ch Gleniren Premier League Sunshoo (Mr & Mrs I & G & Mr & Mrs D & C Robb & Roe) RBIS, BOS & BPIS: Feorlig Picture Perfect at Ringlands (Mrs P Munn) RBPIS: Thoughts Of Stardom at Amsema ( Miss A Mason)BVIS: Caswell Copper Charmer (Mrs J. Scovell) BPhalene IS: Serenglade Sequin (Mesdames S & T Morrell & Teague), B Fringes IS: Papplewick Pumpkin Ridge (Messrs, Olding & Munroe) Best Junior Handler in Show: Rebecca Thompson.
Following on from the announcement about the Good Citizen Bronze Award test that you will be able to enter your dog for at the South of England Papillon Club Fun-day at Bradfield on the 2nd July, the examiner, Barbara Pointer asked me to mention: along with the pre training required, every dog must have a walking collar and lead and the collar should be fitted with a disc that must include the dogs name and your post code, you must have a dog brush with you and also a poo bag! Without these basic items you will not be able to take the test.
At Three Counties Mr F Yeoh judged the breed and his winners were: Dog CC & BOB : ROBB & ROE'S DK/NOR CH GLENIREN PREMIER LEAGUE SUNSHOO , Res Dog CC: STANBURY'S INIXIA WILY WILLUM JW , Bitch CC: MUNN'S FEORLIG PICTURE PERFECT AT RINGLANDS , Res Bitch CC: ROBB'S CH GLENIREN STARLIGHT KISSES , Best Puppy: MUNN'S FEORLIG PICTURE PERFECT AT RINGLANDS. Premier League went on to win the group under Terry Nethercott, congratulations.
Sue Morrell asked me to include the following: “The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club held its open show on a very hot (29degrees) Saturday, 10th June where the judge elect was Mr. Vesa Toivanen (Connection Kennel) from Finland. We were fortunate in this instance to be inside on such a hot day, which was obviously better for dogs as well as exhibitors. The day began with a minute’s silence for Peter Hancocks, our former show manager, who had recently passed away quite suddenly, and it was good to see that his widow, Carina, was able to visit the show for a brief time. The show took on quite a continental flavour for, as well as Vesa and his companion from Finland; we were also able to welcome Carole and her friend from New Zealand. The show was well supported with an entry of 152 dogs making a total entry of 177. The comment from Vesa was that he found the overall standard of dogs to be high with bitches being slightly better than the males. It was interesting to note that whilst going over the dogs on the table, Vesa put their ears down to the side of the face. When asked why he did this he stated that it is easier to see the shape of the skull this way. It was anticipated that tea/coffee would be served to all exhibitors on arrival and that rolls and snacks etc. would be available at the snack bar in the hall, but, unfortunately, the venue do not allow the sale of food or drink other than their own and the snack bar did not supply the promised rolls etc. It is, therefore, anticipated that the Club may be able to find an alternative venue for future open shows where the Committee will be able to supply exhibitors with food and drink. For those members who had entered and ordered a catalogue but were unable to attend, a fully marked catalogue will be sent to you by the Secretary. For those members winning trophies and unable to collect them, the Trophy Steward`s apologies, but she cannot give out trophies which have not been returned by the previous year`s winners. She will, however, endeavour to retrieve those that have not been returned and, where possible, issue them to the appropriate winners for this year. Micro-chipping was available but no one took advantage of this service. With the amount of dogs that are being stolen now, having your dog micro-chipped could help in its return to its owner. However, this service will be provided again by Debbie Gornall at the November show. Carolyne Allward-Chebsey has asked for members to send in their opinions (positive or negative) regarding the show for inclusion in the next Newsletter. Your input is very important to the Committee who will endeavour to take on board all comments that may make our shows even more enjoyable for everyone. Comments can be given to Carolyne or any Committee member. The Club`s next Open Show will be held on the 25th November where Mrs. Ann Stevens (Tawzan) will be the judge elect. The judge for Junior Handling has yet to be announced. If the venue has changed exhibitors will be notified well in advance. The Committee would like to thank you all for your entries and for making this such an enjoyable and successful show.”
I was sorry to hear Denise Pearch has not been too well and has been in hospital for a few days, I do hope Denise is feeling better by now. |

A reminder that it is that time of year again to send off your entries for the Northern and Eastern Counties Papillon Club's Calendar competition. Details of requirements are in the Club's. Open Show Schedule and entries will as usual be judged at the Open Show on 23 July. Closing date for receipt of photographs is 10 July. Don't forget photos should be no larger than 10x8 and should be of dogs only (thank goodness) Entries are still 50p per photo and you may enter as many as you wish. More details if required can be obtained from Dorothy Simpson at Brimmond Bungalow, Hazel old Lane, Hensall, Nr Goole, DN14 0QA Tel.01977 662533. The Calendar itself will be available at Darlington Ch show and all champ shows thereafter subject to availability at a cost of £6 (plus p & P if required). For many of us the Calendar is a must have every year, I am sure many like me have kept copies going back to the first one and I am sure this one will be as popular as all the others so do make sure you order before it is sold out.
Sue Morrell was kind enough to send through a report of the recent Open Show for the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club. She writes "The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club held its open show on a very hot (29o) Saturday, 10th June where the judge elect was Mr. Vesa Toivanen (Connection Kennel) from Finland.
The Club's next Open Show will be held on the 25th November where Mrs. Ann Stevens (Tawzan) will be the judge elect. The judge for Junior Handling has yet to be announced. If the venue has changed exhibitors will be notified well in advance. The Committee would like to thank you all for your entries and for making this such an enjoyable and successful show."
Reading the reports of Three Counties I see that as well as Dk/Nor. Ch Gleniren Premier League Sunshoo topping the Toy Group the Best Papillon Puppy, Pat Munn's Feorlig Picture Perfect at Ringlands took 2nd Place in the Toy Puppy Group. A super day for the breed and a pity someone did not bother to let me know the result earlier.
At Border Union Bitch CC and BOB went to Lyn Woodrow's Ablazzor Christmas Cranker At Lynflyer, bred by Leslie Morton and I believe a first CC for her Dog CC, also his first went to Patricia Beadle's Bodebi Success Story For Bedellus bred by John Turner. Reserves went to Mrs Finlayson's Sharjoy Regency Buck in dogs and Carolyne Allward Chebsey's Lorah's Step In Time. BP was Amy Mason's Thoughts Of Stardom at Amsema.
Finally a reminder that items for the next issue of the Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club newsletter are required now, the next issue is due out, printers permitting, at the beginning of August. Hopefully folk will have already let the Committee know their views on the suggested guidelines for Rescue as requested in the previous Newsletter, If you don't let the committee know what you think you cannot complain if you are not happy with the results. It is an important matter so do let the committee know your views. I know some concern has been expressed over whether or not breeders who are members of the club should always be advised if a dog bred by them is handed into rescue. The suggested guidelines of course won't always do this so if you feel that as a breeder and a member you should ALWAYS be kept informed then do make sure you make that view known. If you don't and you find yourself in a position where a dog you have bred is rehomed by rescue without your being informed you will only have yourself to blame.
