The Papillon Breed Council
Judging List
The Papillon Breed Council judging list is divided into the following sections defined in line with Kennel Club requirements.
A1 LIST
Judges who have already been approved to award CCs in the breed and have carried out the appointment.
A2 LIST
For persons who fulfil all the requirements of the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and have the support of the Papillon Breed Council.
A3 LIST
Judges whom the Papillon Breed Council would support to award CCs, but who, as yet, have not been approved by the K.C.
B LIST
Judges whom the Papillon Breed Council would support to judge the breed at Open Shows.
C LIST
For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the Breed and have the support of the Papillon Breed Club’s.
Guidelines
The depth of knowledge and years of experience within the breed together with the criteria set out below will be taken into consideration. Attendance at seminars and achievements within the breed may also be taken into account. Applications for the lists must be made on the Papillon Breed Council's official questionnaire. All applications will be placed before the Papillon Breed Council for consideration, and inclusion is at the discretion of the Papillon Breed Council by a majority vote in favour. It should be noted that achievement of the criteria does not automatically mean acceptance for inclusion on the lists.
JUDGING CRITERIA
A3 LIST: BREED SPECIALISTS
- Minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the support of the Papillon Breed Council.
- To have judged at one Breed Club Show and/or one Breed Club supported entry show scheduling at least 10 classes.
- To have judged a minimum of 60 classes.
- To have judged a minimum of 180 dogs.
- To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs at the time of first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book, (save in exceptional circumstances).
- To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.
- To have attended a Conformation and Movement “Hands On” Assessment conducted by a Kennel Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment. (KC policy as of 1/7/2005).
- To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
- To have stewarded at 12 shows.
A3 LIST: NON-SPECIALISTS
- Minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed (to include 5 years in this breed) and have the support of the Papillon Breed Council.
- To have judged at one Breed Club Show and/or one breed club supported entry show scheduling at least 10 classes.
- To have judged a minimum of 75 classes in this breed.
- To have judged 225 dogs in this breed.
- To have awarded C.C.s in at least one other breed.
- To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.
- To have attended a Conformation and Movement “Hands On” Assessment conducted by a Kennel Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment (KC policy as of 1/7/2005).
- To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
- To have bred or owned a minimum of three dogs of any breed at the time of first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book, (save in exceptional circumstances).
- To have stewarded at 12 shows.
B LIST: BREED SPECIALIST
- To have three years experience owning and exhibiting in this breed and have the support of the Papillon Breed Council.
- To have judged 12 classes of this breed at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs
- To have judged 36 dogs of this breed.
- To have attended 1 breed judging seminar
- To have stewarded at 3 (three) shows.
B LIST: NON-SPECIALIST
- Minimum of three years judging experience in any one breed and have the support of the Papillon Breed Council.
- To have judged 18 classes of this breed at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs
- To have judged 54 dogs of this breed.
- To have attended one Toy Breed educational event.
- To have stewarded at 3 (three) shows.
C LIST
For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the Breed and have the support of the Papillon Breed Clubs.
The Papillon Breed Council Lists are valid for specific periods and upon expiry new ones will be published by the Papillon Breed Council. Inclusion in any part of a list does not guarantee automatic admission to subsequent ones. The member clubs of the Papillon Breed Council alone shall decide on those judges whose names are to be included in the annual List of Judges. Fulfilling any of the various criteria does not guarantee inclusion in any part of a list.
